I've always been interested in making music electronically using a computer, but 20 years ago the technology was not there yet. The PC's were not as powerfull then as now, so trying to use a VST instrument then was a nightmare. So I used hardware synthesizers and a midi sequenser instead of software ones. But as PC's became more powerfull, I gradually switched to a software studio only. One piece of software that really got me going for a all software studio is Propellerheads Reason software. It's just the coolest piece of software I've ever used and its not too expensive. All my albums I've created I used reason in some form or another. The name BAPETJO comes from the first letters of my birth names and surname: BArend PETrus JOubert. I do not have any formal music training so I just go by ear. If it sounds good I use it. All my tracks that I create I do myself. Creating, composing, mixing and mastering is all done by me. I even design the covers myself. Not by choice but by budget. Pro's have a whole legion of people supporting them and all of these people cost money. But to be honest, I really enjoy doing everything myself it just takes a lot of hard work and long hours. I already finished 3 albums and I'm already busy on the fourth. But this will take a long time. As I progress I will add more information in the news page.
